ROE Has Been Writing Everyone Else’s Hits. Now She’s Putting Venice on Wax.

If you’ve been paying attention to Los Angeles music, chances are you’ve heard ROE before, even if you didn’t know her name.

The Grammy Award-winning vocalist and songwriter has spent years helping create music for some of the biggest names in the game, with credits alongside Usher, Mary J. Blige, Megan Thee Stallion, Chloe x Halle, Kiana Ledé, Kash Doll, Big Sean, Leon Thomas and more.

Now, the Venice native is stepping out from behind those records and putting her own story front and center.

ROE’s latest EP, Lincoln Blvd, is out now, and the title is about as L.A. as it gets.

For ROE, Lincoln Boulevard isn’t just a street. It represents home. Therefore, represents Venice. It represents the environment that helped shape the woman and artist she is today.

ROE was discovered by Macy Gray at 15 and signed to Interscope, beginning a career that would eventually lead to Grammy recognition, more than 100 million streams as a vocalist, major songwriting credits and placements across music, television and film.

She has been in the industry long enough to see the business change from several different angles, first as a young artist, then as a vocalist and songwriter behind the scenes, and now as an independent artist telling her own story.

ROE is no longer just contributing to somebody else’s record. She’s creating the record that documents her. And Lincoln Blvd gives her a place to start.

The project is rooted in Venice and the experience of growing up Black in a part of Los Angeles that has undergone major cultural and physical changes over the years. Venice has always been more than the beach.

Venice is home to artists, musicians, skaters, entrepreneurs, creatives and communities that helped give the neighborhood its identity long before the current version of Venice became a global destination.

ROE comes from that history. She also carries her own connection to Venice’s musical legacy, including her relationship with the late Teena Marie.

ROE is taking that history with her while creating something new. That’s where the idea of the modern Black woman in Venice comes into play.

ROE is documenting what it means to grow, create and build a career from this side of Los Angeles while adding her own chapter to a cultural history that was already being written before she arrived.

And she has the résumé to back up the story. ROE’s work includes Grammy-winning contributions and collaborations with some of contemporary music’s biggest artists. Her catalog has accumulated more than 100 million vocalist streams, and her songwriting credits span major R&B and hip-hop releases.

Then came another unexpected co-sign.

ROE’s song “Stay” was included on Barack Obama’s Top Songs of 2025 list, introducing her music to another generation of listeners while underscoring just how far her work has traveled.

But none of those accomplishments happened overnight. ROE has been doing the work for years. The difference now is that she’s doing it with her own name at the center.

That shift was also visible recently when ROE performed her first solo show at The Sun Rose in West Hollywood, bringing the music from Lincoln Blvd into a live setting.

And there’s more coming.

With a full-length album on the horizon, Lincoln Blvd feels like the beginning of a larger chapter rather than a standalone moment.

ROE has way more stories to tell. Especially about surviving and evolving in an industry she entered as a teenager.

And about what happens when the person who has spent years helping everybody else sound good finally decides to turn the microphone toward herself.

Stay tuned!

For now, you can catch her hosting the next Daisy’s LA Food Tour along Venice Beach, October 17th 2026.

Holler.
