Tap'N With Keith Doubleo aka Heartbreak Dub

Today we’re Tap’N with upcoming artist Keith Doubleo aka Heartbreak Dub.

Keith, it’s a pleasure to talk to you and get to know you, let’s get started with you telling us about your story and how you got where you are so far today.

Keith Doubleo: I got by Keith Doubleo, aka Keith Green from Gary, Indiana. My story is like others growing up in impoverished areas. I was one of the lucky ones though, I was and am still working to change not just my circumstances, but those around me. To tell you a little about the city, it is lacking in resources. This causes a lot of people in the area to feel a sense of hopelessness. Situations in this environment caused me to develop anxiety and PTSD, but not just me a lot of my friends did as well. So as a form of therapy I began to write music. It is was, and in many ways still is my escape.

Through my music that I create you get to take a journey through my thoughts at that time. I found getting in the studio and making my music was my greatest release. I pour my story into the songs, hoping that it will resonate and help heal my community; by showing hey, you are not alone in what you’re feeling I am here with you as well. It helped me so much until I decided why not reach out and see if I can help others in neighborhood, so I started my company Jugg Entertainment.

That’s quite a background. What would you say has been the biggest obstacle in your journey as an artist so far?

Keith Doubleo: Proving I’m an artist in every sense of the word, this is my life, and I am not just checking boxes or doing this for fame and money. Don't get me wrong money is nice and I hope to achieve the fame that comes with it, but this is about the music and healing for me and for anyone that I can reach through it. Being from Gary, Indiana there is no radio station, the buildings that were once prospering now abandoned, the labels on the studio are barely there; resources are slim to spite being 15-30 mins away from Chicago there is a drastic difference.

What lessons have you learned along the way?

Keith Doubleo: The price of reaching the communities is high. People are only going to take you as serious as you take yourself, only you know what you need to get it together. You must really want it.

Tell us about your music, how would you describe it?

Keith Doubleo: I would describe my music as, different, Gary has a rich music history and even though it feels like a forgotten city. Talent is still here; I feel like nobody from where I’m from is making music that looks or sounds like me because it is my emotions. It is like giving you a glimpse into my soul. It’s just pure emotion; it’s a roller coaster.

Are there any artists you would compare yourself to?

Keith Doubleo: I don’t really compare myself to anybody because I respect everyone's art. All I can be is who I am.

If you could work with any artists who would you choose?

Keith Doubleo: T-pain, Wayne, and Freddie Gibbs because he from my city.

What do you think sets you apart from other artists?

Keith Doubleo: I’m not stuck in one lane of music I can adjust. I look for things that challenge me so as an artist I am always evolving, who I am as an artist currently is not the same as who I was previously. I push myself to evolve.

What do you want people to know about your work?

Keith Doubleo: All my work that I release is a reflection on me, so I am only going to release music that I am proud of. I try to create a relatable experience for everyone to be able to find part of themselves in.

I’m showing I’m more than a rapper, I am person, as a person there are wide range of emotions and moods that you go through. I want to be that artist that you come home you are like I am feeling sad, angry, hurt, broken hearted, happy, in love etc. Doubleo has a song for him because his music relates to what I am going through and take comfort in the fact that he has been through it. I am not alone, at least someone out there understands.

What are you plans for the future?

Keith Doubleo: To keep progressing I rather move right, than move fast. So, I plan on keep elevating, taking it to the next level get even better every go around.

Besides your plans, what else motivates you to keep going and stay focused?

Keith Doubleo: To be honest it’s my art, it’s my therapy sometimes, it feels like this all I have. It means the most to me, music got me out the darkest places and continues to do so to this day. But my team and my family loves and support me the most.

Can you tell us something that might surprise people about you?

Keith Doubleo: I really enjoy fishing even though I’m allergic to it.

Lol that’s dope! (the fishing, not the being allergic part) I would have never guessed that. Tell us, how do you define success?

Keith Doubleo: Progressing doing whatever you love or dream. Whether you are still chasing or if you have reached your goal and decided to go to the next level, if you keep going up even if it's not big steps forward; it’s still forward, to me that’s success.

Alright, last but not least, tell everyone about your upcoming projects and music you have coming out:

Keith Doubleo: My new project just released Oct. 29 streaming on all music platforms HEARTBREAK DUB 💜. It’s a rollercoaster of my emotion’s stories dealing with relationships, the good and bad sides that I have experienced. It gives listeners a peak into my love life.
