Tap'N With Watts Artist QBJR

We’re excited to introduce you to Watts’ artist QBJR --one of the youngest artists we’ve ever worked with.

QBJR, thank you so much for sharing your story with Trap LA! Before we get started can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started rapping at such a young age?

QBJR: My name is QBJR, I’m 11 years old and from Watts, California. I was raised by my dad and I watched my uncle write raps and shoot music videos. I’ve also been inspired by Jayrock from TDE since I grew up around him and listening to his music. Them, plus NBA Youngboy, my cousin Ambjaay are the reason I really wanted to rap.

Wow, you’re very focused for an 11-year-old, and your new video with RTwoo “Who Is You” already has 2,500 views on YouTube after just five days. That’s impressive! How would you describe your music?

QBJR: My music is a kid sound that’s a little advanced; it’s catchy --no mumble rap.

Are there any other artists you would compare yourself to:

QBJR: I don’t compare my sound to any other artists.

I know that’s right! What are some obstacles you’ve had to face or lessons you’ve learned so far in your music career?

QBJR: ...family and friends won’t support you until they see you winning.

That’s definitely true. What are your plans for the future?

QBJR: I’ma keep dropping fire music!

As you should! Aside from being so young, what else sets you apart from others?

QBJR: I’m young, talented and have a lot of growing to do with this music.

Keep working hard, we’re excited to watch your journey. How have you gotten to this point in your career so far?

QBJR: My Dad. He’s my biggest supporter. He helps me with everything I need and do. Also, my uncle G.I.

We love to see that you have your dad and uncle’s support. That’s priceless. What matters the most to you and how do you define success?

QBJR: Family and loyalty mean the most to me. Loyalty is the main thing. And success to me is accomplishing higher goals in life.

Well, you’re definitely ahead of the game right now. Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.

QBJR: I’m coming for the torch and I’m not letting go.

We will definitely be cheering you on. Tell people how they can find your music and support you.

QBJR: You can find my music on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Tidal and all streaming platforms by searching for my name “QBJR.” You can support me by following me on Instagram (@QBJR_1).
